DSA Privacy Policy

Information Collection: As a member of the Day Sailer Association, you agree to allow the collection of the following information: first and last name, email address(es), phone number(s), mailing address, as well as other data you choose to include in your membership file. Please know that the association only needs your first and last name, phone number, and email. We like have the kind of boat your have DS1, DS2, etc. All other information, is optional and not required.
Purpose of Data Collection: The purpose of this data collection to serve as an association membership database. From the data collected, the DSA Board can find how many members are active, belong to a fleet, are associate or independent members. Independent members own a Day Sailer, but are not affiliated with a local fleet.
Data Usage: The DSA collects membership data for the purposes of membership renewals, sharing news about upcoming regattas, and announcing release of the Quarterly membership magazine, which is downloadable from the website by paid members.
Data Sharing: The DSA does NOT share information about our membership to  third parties. However, Personify/WildApricot, our webhosting and association management company does. 
Data Protection and Security: The DSA subscribes to Personify/WildApricot for online association management and web hosting services. Personify strives to safeguard user data from unauthorized access via CAPTCHA. Should you ever receive a suspicious email regarding your DSA membership, please 1) do not open it, and 2) notify any of the DSA Board Members or Website Administrator ASAP.
Financial Data: The DSA website uses AffiniPay to process online payments made by credit card. AffiniPay uses data only for the payment of membership dues. Neither Personify, nor the DSA, have access credit card information.   
AffiniPay Refunds: If an error is made in entering your payment information, notify the DSA Web Administrator immediately as the payment can be deleted within 24 hours. Typically AffiniPay will notify the cardholder immediately is a payment cannot be processed. In this case, try again.
User Rights: At any time, you have the right to edit your membership data on the DSA website. This includes family members names, extra emails. As a DSA Member, you have 24/7 access to your membership account to edit or remove data.
Cookies and Tracking: When you visit a WildApricot site – as a member, or visitor – cookies may be placed on your computer by WildApricot or a third party. A cookie is a chunk of data – typically stored as a text file – that is placed on your computer or other device when you visit a particular website. WildApricot uses the following cookies: list of cookies. A cookie is used to identify your device to the website when you visit again so the site can load your preferences, automatically accept your credentials, or otherwise personalize the experience. Cookies do not store personal information about you, just information that identifies your device and makes websites function more smoothly.
Third Party Cookies: WildApricot uses third-party cookies. Third-party cookies are used by Google Analytics for tracking website traffic and by WildApricot to embed its functionality on non-WildApricot sites with widgets. In another example, if you embed a Facebook widget on your WildApricot site, Facebook may place a cookie to personalize your online experience.
Policy Updates: This privacy policy may change over time and the DSA will notify members of such changes by email.

Effective Date: The privacy policy was created on January 17, 2025, and becomes effective upon posting on the website.

To ensure security and privacy of your data, WildApricot provides traffic encryption (https) capability. Traffic encryption ensures that data entered into the online forms (e.g. membership application, event registration) as well as data transferred from WildApricot servers back to visitors is protected from snooping, for example if you access internet over an insecure WiFi connection.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) was developed to encourage and enhance cardholder data security and facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures globally. Certification confirms that we:

We are responsible for the security of cardholder data the service provider possesses or otherwise stores, processes, or transmits on behalf of the customer, or to the extent that they could impact the security of the customer’s cardholder data environment. We passed PCI audit in 2024.
