Thanks a bunch for getting me to worry about something that hadn't crossed my mind before. As if the economy, global warming, and world conflict weren't enough. OK -- for the record: Does anyone have any reports of a DSII L-bracket giving way?

Talbot,

Mine is an '80 DSII and I have had no problems with the stemhead fitting so far. Admittedly, mine is a southern lake boat, and a typical day is 15k wind or less, but I have been out in a few good blows during the fall and winter months (with some good chop). The questionable mounting of the bracket is yet another thing to keep me awake at night.

Talbot,

there were two independent cases mentioned in the thread on "DS2 bow deck separation".

The fix seems rather simple: Drill one or two holes through bow and bracket. Expoxy in a bolt or two, cover. After that, peace of mind. .... or rather, you're free to worry about something else. :)

Thanks. I already have the floatation tank opened up from a previous repair, so I'll check it out.
