Taking the DS1 out for the weekend to Banks Lake, WA. The winter season was "sporting" and cold. Now I'm hoping for "sporting" and warmer with a "pleasant" thrown in for good measure. :)

Summer is here

I also would like to get the DS I out on the water this weekend. Have not been out yet this season, drats !! But the weather wizards here in Oklahoma are not being very cooperative. Temperature wise it will be GREAT. Going to be in the high 80's and low 90's. Sounds good doesn't it? But there is a kicker here. They are calling for the Oklahoma winds to really crank up, again this weekend. Friday forcast 15-30 mph, Saturday forcast 20-35 mph and Sunday a mild 12-25 mph (this may be the day to get out but not likely). With winds that strong one can bet that there will be higher gusts. Just have to wait and see, but does not look promising for this sailor.

Good luck with your weekend and I'll just have to wait and see if the wind gods will be kind and the weather wizards are wrong. Oh, the fun of April in Oklahoma.

Yeah, I'm also looking forward to the maiden voyage of my boat. I still have yet to:

-re-install coamings
-attach various doodads to mast
-put on new sheets
-touch-up dings and dents
-rewire trailer for lights
-put on new masthead sheaves

All in all a couple of days' work, which is fine - it is indeed rainy season in Eastern Washington. I want things to be ready to go in a couple of weeks for that first glorious day on Coeur d'Alene.

In the eastern prairies, (Manitoba) the snow is mostly melted, but there is still rotten ice on the lakes. Where my boat is wintered it is free of snow and I can get up to it with the vehicle to work on it this weekend. The ground is almost dry around it. It will be a few weeks yet before the hull gets wet.

Peter: Hope that you get some wind this weekend. If not, come to Oklahoma. They are now forcasting 20-30 mph on Friday, and 20-40 mph on Saturday. Temps in the mid 90's. So no sailing for this kid this weekend. Alas, maybe next weekend.

To all, hope you get out on the lakes soon, and Fair Winds !!!!
