Centerboard Pivot Bolt

Postby springsDS2 » Tue Jul 06, 2010 4:58 pm

I was reaching around inside the bilge access hatches to see if I could feel the centerboard pivot bolt, but I can't locate it--this is where I would get access, yes? :?

Reaching in from the inspection port only go in wrist deep forward. It is higher than you think. If you can't initially feel it, take a flashlight and cosmetic mirror to locate it. Once you find it once it is easy to find again. The bolt end and nut end each take a 3/4 inch socket if you are planning to remove or tighten the pivot bolt.

Another way of finding it is to put a small digital camera with flash down there and snap a few pics. It is very interesting to check your bilge this way and will give you a new insight to your boat.

Fantastic tips, thanks. I will take a look, and snap some photos, next weekend. Things seem Ok, but I just want to know for future reference.
