On my DSI I mount an electric trolling motor directly on the transom. The DSI has that "motor well/drink holder" thingie in the rear deck, but the back end of it is essentially the transom. Now, I understand that the DSII doesn't have the rear deck, so you coudl hang one directly from your transom.
Only modification I made is to glue some carpeting on the flat side of the motor's clamp. I glued a short 1/2" thick piece of scrap lumber on the two washer-like "feet" of the clamp screws, so I wouldn't get any indentations on my hull.
Worked like a charm. I didn't need to install a bracket and all the padding materials are always kept with the clamp, so they can't get lost.
The trolling motor is a "long" shaft version. It can be adjusted by sliding it up and down, as well as tilted in, when not in use.
I would advise against the use of "rubber band" trolling motors.
