Oops, posted this on the DSIII forum initialy so this is a repost.
I am in need of a rudder for my '74 DSII and am considering making one. It seems from a few other posts that the most common way is to shape one from solid wood. Is this the best option to consider? What is the preffered type of wood? Should I also consider making one from plywood or foam and then glassing it?
I also have some questions about hydrofoils. How important is the shape of the rudder? If this goes well I plan to make a CB by the same process. I'm quite new to all this and don't have much of an existing skillbase for this sort of thing but am eager to start learning and experimenting.
Any and all input is appreciated.
