Took the daysailer out for the first time and can see why these boats are popular, Wehad a blast on a lake in central florida. But when I was loading up I had a mishap and ended up breaking 1 upper and 1 lower spreader bar. I thought that I read on here that the uppers can be done away with and of course I know I can by new parts at D&R Marine. So It ok to do away with the uppers?

Those uppers do appear to have been over-engineered parts in the original design. Lots of people have removed theirs. I might follow their lead at one point (for a DS1).
Glad you enjoy your boat.
