Do you put the bolt rope in the slot below the opening in the mast, all the way down to the boom, or do you leave it out to make reefing easier?

I leave mine out, based on one experience when it got so stuck that I ended up taking the boom off of the foot in order to drop the main. I'm not sure that's the standard, though.

By the way, thanks for the report on your excellent adventure.
