whale of a block...

Hey all:

In working on my 60's DSI I've noticed the original blocks were made by "W.C.M. Inc." and have a little cartoon whale etched on the side. So cute. Out of curiosity I googled this company and found nothing. What can anyone tell me about this company that made equipment for boats with the whale logo?

Thanks,

Carlos

I was fixing a tornado induced bend in my mast over the weekend on Rolias...hull #765 and when I removed the upper shrouds noticed that the bracket holding the shrouds to the mast had the same whale.

Heh- I was just looking at some of the hardware I've removed from my '61-'62 DSI, and saw the WCM and whale logo on a couple of blocks (helps tell me which are original and which aren't) and thought the exact same thing as alden back in 2006. Sadly, similar results, except I found this thread. Anyone else have any insights? Maybe it should be a "Design Changes" item, certainly indicates original equipment...

If anyone knows where WCM was based, even, that'd be a great start to finding out who/when they were.
