Wire Halyard Size

Postby John Stevens » Thu Jul 24, 2008 8:50 pm

I read the specs for the wire halyards at 1/16. I've had a hard time finding the rigging locally. I can find 3/32 with the thimble and all put together. Can I use this?

Also, getting the exact lengths right- Main halyard- is it 23 feet of wire from end to end or from loop to loop after it's bent around a thimble?

The place that sells the wire can put it together for me.

Thanks,

John

3/32 is fine, 1/8 is better and usually not much more expensive. Good luck, Bob Damon

why don't you use a rope halyard? The new lines are plenty strong enough, I used one on mine ds2 and it worked great. you can get low stretch lines that are perfect.
