Cape Cod Shipbuilding DS1 motor question

Does anyone know of any problems using an outboard with the new Cape Cod Shipbuilding DS1 and what hp motor are you using on these boats?

The used CCDS I purchased has a two piece bronze motor mount that was part of the original bill of sale. The second piece extends off the stern and slides into a flat plate attached to the stern when needed. I have a British Seagull for the boat but have never had occasion to use it. I wouldn't expect the motor requirements to be any different than any other DS. See the Cape Cod web page parts list for the DS. It is part number DS-O-10.

The CCDS has been a delight to sail - like all the other DS's

We use a 2hp Honda 4 stroke ob on our DS1. The long shaft version is required to get the anti-cavitation plate 6" below the surface, per the Honda operator manual. We have only used the new motor one time but have been satisfied with it so far. I believe that CCSB recommends no more than 3hp motors on the 2 piece bronze bracket. We went with the 2hp because the next size up in the Honda lineup was a 5hp. I would rather sail than motor, but it is nice to have a back-up to get home if the breeze disappears.
